    • Pregnant or lactating bitches, because of its lower energy density and lower calcium content (compared to Science Plan™ Puppy). Pregnant or lactating bitches should be fed a Science Plan™ Puppy Healthy Development™ Mini or Medium formula.

     

    Additional Info:

    • Large breed puppies should be fed Science Plan™ Puppy Healthy Development™ Large Breed from weaning until 1 year of age, and then switched to Science Plan™ Adult Advanced Fitness Large Breed.
    • Science Plan™ Puppy Healthy Development™ Large Breed is enriched with a high level of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), an essential structural component of the brain which occurs naturally in mothers' milk. Feeding pregnant and lactating bitches on Science Plan™ Puppy Healthy Development™ formula, (other then Puppy Healthy Development™ Large Breed) will provide puppies with a high level of DHA before weaning. When Science Plan™ Puppy Healthy Development™ Large Breed is then fed to puppies after weaning, additional DHA is supplied throughout the critical formation and development of brain and eyes.
    • Additional food or supplements, particularly calcium supplements, should not be fed as this will upset the essential nutritional balance.

    How to adjust feeding amounts to maintain optimal weight.

    The daily amount required by individual puppies typically varies by ±16% (e.g. a 4 month old, 15 kg puppy may require between 305 and 420 grams per day of Science PlanTM Puppy Healthy DevelopmentTM Large Breed).  Therefore these amounts should be adjusted to maintain optimal body weight, and fed as 2 - 4 meals per day (the number may decrease with age).
